  21.     Ok, once again, I'm begging.  After months of effort, it  
  22. appears I'll have a head on my Raptor within a few weeks.  Trouble  
  23. is, I'm presenting a session at a national meeting again on the use  
  24. of animation in education the second week of January.  Will I have  
  25. all the Impact animations ready that I hoped to have finished by  
  26. then?  The probability of such diminishes rapidly as each day  
  27. passes.
  28.     Sooo, if any of you happen to have animations that nicely  
  29. showcase how LW can be used in education, I'd love to hear from  
  30. you.  In particular, I'm hot to show off how collision detection,  
  31. gravity, springs, friction, etc can be used to accurately model  
  32. physical systems, but there's clearly a lot of non-Impact stuff  
  33. that could be just as valuable to education.  So if you would like  
  34. to have your work shown at a national meeting, please get in touch.   
  35. The last meeting I chaired on this was standing room only, so the  
  36. educational community is becoming aware of the inherent value of  
  37. animation.  In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that some of  
  38. you who are trying to cultivate new markets might consider  
  39. contacting some of the larger (traditionally textbook) publishing  
  40. houses.
  41.     I also hope to be acting as a conduit for scientific  
  42. animations to network science & news shows in the near future, so  
  43. the potential exists for some decent exposure for your work.  I'll  
  44. be happy to cover all the FedEx'ing and return tapes as promptly as  
  45. possible.
